There were several memorial services for the renowned Australian actor, Heath Ledger, on Saturday, including one in L.A. and one in New York. The public ceremony in New York had more than 1200 guests who bowed their head in remembrance during the services’ minutes of silence, while Heath’s image filled two large screens.
Several Australian actors, including Jack Thompson, Julian McMahon and Rachael Taylor. The event also included a letter about Heath from his father, Kim Ledger, which read, “Heath did not become an actor for the fame or fortune. He loved his craft and he loved helping his friends. He loved chess and skateboarding, too. My image of Heath in New York is him with his skateboard, a canvas bag and a beanie. That was Heath to me.”
Heath’s family including his former fiance, Michelle Williams, and his daughter, Matilda, attended the private ceremony in L.A.
Heath’s body will be flown to Australia and buried in Perth.
A lovely tribute to a fabulous actor.
