“Britney needs to be there because it’s much easier to defend your client if he/she is present to refute what witnesses say,” says Scott Weston (who’s not involved with the case). The problem is Britney Spears hates showing up to court, and she hasn’t exactly been thinking straight lately. Her lawyers, on the other hand, have definitely advised her to show up to the court date.
Making it even worse, is this court hearing is about whether or not the ban on Britney’s visitation rights will be extended until the custody trial begins in April. Britney’s lawyers say that if she’s not there, the ban will more than likely continue through April.
However, to make it even more difficult on the pop princess, the police department has had it. Britney hasn’t told them when she’ll be showing up or anything, so they don’t want to wait on her to help her get through the paparazzi. Someone might’ve thrown her a bone, though: if she goes with her lawyer, they’ll be willing to work with him to get them through.
