The Big Bang Theory, a new sitcom starring Kaley Cuoco from 8 Simple Rules, was surprisingly funny but overly nerdy and somewhat “familiar”. I couldn’t place the influences, but there was little new - except the fact that Cuoco’s character is attractive without being stuck-up. However, there’s no subtlety in what audience the show is aiming for: horny, hard-up male tech/ science nerds. And in that light, it’s kind of a limited show. Message to writers: don’t try so hard and this show might last more than a season.
