You gotta love Katherine Heigl. Any girl that sits down and says exactly what’s on her mind deserves praise… and I’m totally willing to give it to her. In fact, while she’s on the “Today” show she sits down and lights up - going on, while doing so about how she started and now - her plans to quit (which haven’t worked so far.)
Katherine explained that if you’re the new girl in town (Hollywood), you become one of three things, “You’re the blond, or the cheerleader or the girlfriend. It would have been really easy to fall back on the blond and the bra size and just do that for the rest of my career.”
And like her fairly bold comments on the film “Knocked Up” (which, whether she cares to admit it or not really did make her name), she also talks about “27 Dresses” - although she’d be hard-pressed to call this film “sexist.” Instead, Katherine says, “I almost felt like Jane was the villain. It was important for me not to be too much of the victim. This girl had some edge. She had some reasons.” She also adds, after mentioning that it’s the true chick flick, “There’s not a ton of profoundness to it.”
I’m excited… going to see it this weekend with some of the girls (we’re getting all dressed up in former bridesmaid dresses in honor of the film).
