The Golden Globes may be canceled, but Monday night (yesterday) the Critics’ Choice Awards went off without a hitch. Since they aren’t part of the Writers Guild contracts, there were no picket lines to be crossed.
And even though the strike didn’t necessarily affect the show, it was still on the minds of the actors and actresses, made obvious by people like George Clooney. “When the strike happens, it’s not just writers (affected). Our hope is that all the players will lock themselves in a room and not come out until they finish. We want this to be done. That’s the most important thing.” So true.
Some of the awards are as follows:
Best Actor (or actress):
- Daniel Day-Lewis for There Will Be Blood;
- Julie Christie for Away From Her
Best Supporting Actress (or actor)
- Amy Ryan for Gone Baby Gone
- Javier Bardem in No Country For Old Men
Best Comedy:
- Juno
Best Picture
- No Country for Old Men
