By now, everyone knows that Britney Spears’ 16-year-old little sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, is pregnant. Which leads to one question: should the show be cancelled? The fourth (and probably final) season has already been filmed, making the decision all the more difficult.
Some parents - and professionals - are saying it should be because portraying a teen star who’s pregnant - even if she isn’t pregnant on the show - will make it seem “cool.” Of course, if it is shelved, Nickolodeon will lose money - lots of it.
According to their website, Nickolodeon is “the most-watched television network by kids in the United States… (and its) ‘kids first’ philosophy is the key element to its business successes.”
Sounds to me like they should can the show. I realize Disney stood behind Vanessa Hudgens when she made a nude appearance online. The difference is Jamie Lynn is playing a character who is supposed to be a role model for young kids. What do you think?

I like to think I am a vey open minded woman and mother. But this kind a tragedy should not me promoted. If Nickoldeon does put “Kids First”, they should prove it by not continuing the series. The media should never encourage children by glamorizing teen pregnancy. Teen Pregnancy should be seen as tragic. Not to punish these teen moms. They should be used to educate what not to do.
Nick would be graceful, by taking the financial bite, stop the show and air a special some night on the perils of teen pregnancy. Jamie Lynn needs to get out of Hollywood and go raise her baby, or she will end up another worse tragedy like her sister.
Teens need to know that there is consequences for getting yourself knocked up so young. Jamie Lynn’s treatment, by cancelling the show will be a good example of it.
